Ten Thousand Waves

A magical place.

One day we found ourselves in this town, Santa Fe. A place for art and all things organic with a homemade flare. A town with many qualities and undiscovered treasures. …. lies a magical place. Up in the hills and up 91 steps we reach a Japanese sanctuary.  Ten Thousand Waves.

10-thousand-wavesThis place was a surprise to a woman on her birthday. A thoughtful husband made a plan to spoil his wife and indulge her in a day of relaxation. A perfect plan indeed.

A wife who was totally in astonishment not only of the surprise in itself but to find a gem like this that catered to a pregnant woman adjusting the water temperature just for little ol’ me!… it was like an ocean oasis in a desert full of cacti.

With a full spa, an array of treatments, massages, equipped with a restaurant, and a lodging facility! The pleasures here are tranquil filled with a no rush zen vibe, a perfect place to unwind and find balance in a world of constant movement.

The perfect gift.

The delicate foliage, architecture that makes you appreciate nature, wood throughout precisely placed pleasing the eye while elevating the comfort level. It feels like home. From the moment you step into this sanctuary, from seeing the fish swimming in a garden of rocks you are taken on your own island of peace. Where time is no longer a concern, no need to worry here. People roam freely, a community hot tub area, a relaxation room, waterfalls, this place is for you to relax, and that’s exactly what we did! ten-thousand-waves

Our visit here lasted about 7 hours. We had the chance to indulge in a full evening  of relaxation which included the private spa area reserved just for us, a couples massage, and a special Japanese foot massage for the mother to be, ending the night with traditional Japanese izakaya dinner.

It seemed like time stood still being in this no rush atmosphere before we knew it we were under the stars and still having the time of our lives! The best surprise birthday present for this pregnant sailor woman who loves nature and dearly missed the sound of water. This guy is awesome. This day of relaxation was a present I never knew I would have the opportunity to have, being a no fuss, low maintenance gal this was the last thing on my mind. And to think I got to be pampered with my husband right next to me was totally far out! He is not the type of person to do spas but this place did find a cozy spot in his heart and one place that we will revisit together again someday! After I left this sanctuary I was ready. Ready for anything. Ready to give birth in a few weeks?!?!? Bring it. Ooooooom. prenatal-spa
