Tobago Cays here we come!

Tobago Cays8:45 am. We are leaving Canouan and heading to The Tobago Cays! As we are leaving “Nostromo” is prepping to pulling up anchor also. We met Suzie the night before, she stopped by our boat to say hi. Very nice lady and very creative crafts she makes. They are going to Mayreau. The main island in The Cays. Anchor up, we are making our way out the bay I raise my hand to wave goodbye but they are not out, bummer. Then all of a sudden we hear a loud horn. We look back and there is Suzie with a conch in one hand and waving with the other. She “Conched us!” Cool.  We wave back and hope we will run into them at some point again. Man I have to get me a conch shell and make a horn….

11 am. Beautiful sail, fast. By the time I make breakfast and we eat. Its was serious navigation time. You have to be very cautious here. Especially in a monohull. A lot of reefs and shallow waters to avoid. We had excellent sun, nice clear day. So we were able to see where all the reefs were located ahead of time. As we enter the water colors are amazing! The shallow waters reflect the sand and reefs below and light up the sea. Awesome turquoise colors. And different shades of blue. The Tobago Cays are surrounded by a huge reef in the shape of a horseshoe hence the given name “Horseshoe Reef”. They have lots of turtles and the sea life, great for snorkeling. Other than the current being a little on the strong side (makes for good exercise) this place is heaven. Wow! We make the most of our day and go snorkeling, dinghy to the other islands, snorkel more. Fun place to be!  Were excited to be able to stayed here for three 3 days and explore. I think we found our paradise…
