7:45am Up early and ready to sail! We leave beautiful Isla De Culebra and make way east to St. Thomas. Big waves out here. There is a storm passing to the south heading west. So we are experiencing minor repercussions from that. We have great timing and position for the time being. Upon reviewing the weather and talking with some of the others cruisers in Salinas a storm was to hit Puerto Rico in about 3 days. We sailed out of there fast. Now we can see wicked clouds moving to the west and south of us as it should be approaching Puerto Rico soon. Which is good…for us. We are out of its way, and moving the opposite direction out of its track.
9am I can see St. Thomas in the distance! Beau is sleeping and Ryan is reading. Whoa we just went over a HUGE wave!
We arrive to Water Island just before noon. Grab a mooring ball and take in the view WOW! The sun came out and it was HOT~ The shower drain pump to the head is not working so we go to work on fixing it and drying out some wet things in our”dryer”….all natural sun, and the setting is on high! I throw together a cheese and sausage tray for a snack and we are off to explore! We snorkel…and snorkel…and more snorkeling Beau swam with us the whole time! Then we go to the beach. To our surprise there is a little shack with food and drinks that is hidden behind trees. Ryan has a bushwhacker and I have a pain killer. Yummy drinks. The people working there are fellow cruisers and are really cool, they plan to leave soon to head south also. A swim and walk on the beach later as the sun is setting calls for another drink. Now feeling the effects of the perfectly named drinks, I’m very numb and Ryan feeling pretty whacked we go back to the boat…happy. Call it a night by watching our old skydiving videos and laugh ourselves to sleep. Tomorrow we sail on. Zzzzz
