Engine wont start, No Bueno. Charlotte Amalie – St. Thomas

Going-through-a-tight-channel-in-St-Thomas...I-mean-tightWe have a relaxed morning still taking in the view here at Water Island getting ready to leave to our next destination in Charlotte Amalie. “Relaxed” was short lived when we go to start the engine…and it wont start, No bueno. After reading through the manuals and going back and forth we finally pin point the problem. Its the magnetic starter switch. It has alot of corrosion and needs to be replaced badly. After Ryan cleans it off a bit, the engine starts! Whew! Oh how we love challenges…

We release the lines from the mooring and head to Charlotte Amalie. Its just about 20 minutes away, just a hop! We anchor at noon in a great little area with a breath taking view just outside of Charlotte Amalie. A fellow sailor we spoke to just before we were about to anchor, hops in his dinghy in a flash and before we know it he is pointing out areas to he thinks would be good for us to anchor in. It was like having a chauffeur oh la la, such a nice guy :) Surrounded by pirate boats they use for tours, it feels really cool here. We get a Wifi connection from the boat. and go right to work on getting the part ordered and planning out our budget. Looks like it should be here by the end of the week, excellent!  Good progress today. We have time to explore the island and hang out! As most people come from cruise ships the town is filled with tourists….Beau becomes part of the tourist attraction, he doesn’t like it much. We go hang out in a park called Emancipation where there is alot of good people watching. The locals here have a accent like the Bahamians with a hard rasta flare and British accent to throw you off some more.  The proceeding days we work on the boat and get some things we need like food, fuel filters, lures…ect.
