Its Sunday and its Raining!….cats are dragging!
The rain started Friday. Reviewing the weather charts, a system is to moving through and its gonna hold the rain here for a couple more days. Today the system is here. We just heard on the VHF that another boat making his way towards the harbor, he was experiencing 50+ kts!
((Considering last Sunday we experienced a powerful low pressure system and that was pretty exciting. Keeping alert just in case we might drag anchor. Or if anyone else drags. We didnt! Thankful we have such a massive Delta anchor, we got to rest a little. Gusts were 45 kts. in the harbor that night! ))
We are on alert today. Then it starts getting windy. Wind is blowing 25- 30 kts. we watch a movie, but every couple of minutes we are looking outside scanning… I fell asleep for a couple of minutes. Just as I wake up I go to the saloon and look out. We have a catamaran in front of us and I always feel uncomfortable when one is anchored by us. ( Ever since a big catamaran dragged anchor and ran into us at Dinner Key, those cats! Im always ready. Thankfully no major damage was done, it seems like someone is watching over us thats for sure! ) So I look straight at the catamaran for a little. And it starts dragging! Fast. I alert the hubby to tell him, hes sleeping. He quickly goes out to try and tries to alert them. The wind is pushing hard and its pushing them into a concrete wall, starboard side of us. We blow our horn, nothing. I tell him to keep blowing till someone comes out. Finally 2 men come out and engines on. They re-anchor. More rain….
